Where did our name come from?
Memphis Whistle refers to whistling across the top of a moonshine bottle. It is a harkening back to the days of bootleggers and moonshiners.
Beginning in 2020, pirate bartenders Jef Hicks and David Parks set out to create a service to deliver craft cocktails to your doorstep. Their concept was born from the desire to reduce drinking and driving as well as promote social distancing in the midst of the pandemic.
Jef and Amanda are carrying on the Memphis Whistle brand and providing all the unique cocktails The Whistle is known for, as well as prohibition style libations for your drinking pleasure. We love the history behind the cocktails and make every effort to strip them back to their simple origins. We have been making shrubs, tinctures and syrups at home for many years, now we get to do it for a living. As they say, when you do what you love, you never work a day in your life!
Since one half of Memphis Whistle ownership, Amanda, is sober, we will always be exploring ways to create unique non-alcoholic options for those who can’t or don’t imbibe but wish to have a tasty beverage with friends because we believe everyone should be able to have a fancy drink in a pretty glass.
Our plan is to work with local chefs to help them get on their feet and make a name for themselves. We also hope to implement teaching gardens on-site to show that growing your own food in a small space is possible. We will make concerted efforts to work with causes we believe in and support local as much as humanly possible.
